DERIVATIVE TRADING AND HEDGING
A derivative is a financial instrument with a value that is reliant upon or derived from, an underlying asset or group of assets. The derivative itself is a contract between two or more parties, and the derivative derives its price from fluctuations in the underlying asset. Derivatives can be used in a variety of ways: to hedge a position, to speculate on the future price movement of an asset, or to give leverage/gearing.
Our derivatives services are offered through Investec Prime Services at competitive rates. Through this arrangement, we offer clients Direct Market Access (DMA) to Contracts for Difference (CFD) on JSE listed equities. We also offer DMA to all the JSE derivatives markets including:
- Equity Derivatives
- Currency Derivatives
- Interest Rate Derivatives
- Commodity and Agricultural Derivatives
JSE derivatives are usually Futures and Options where the underlying can be either an Index, Single Stock, Currency pair or Commodity.
